Media Action is an non-profit 501(c)3 organization devoted to empowering youth and communities to share their stories through media production and education. Our organization utilizes cutting edge technologies and research-based best practices to provide communities with the skills and opportunities to share their stories and issues via media in order to both provide technological access for participants and to foster global awareness and action. Media Action specializes in workshops, media production and training, and community collaborations. Our work is carried out by a team of expert filmmakers, educators, and media producers.

Workshops

Media Action offers intensive, participatory media workshops for youth and community organizations. Topics covered in our workshops include video production and post-production, cultural preservation, issue based media-making and artistic exploration. Student-produced media is distributed through online channels, film festivals and community screenings. Depending on the nature of the workshop, final product(s) and can be used for community organizing or cultural preservation. Media Production and Training

Media Action is available to support qualifying organizations and groups through high quality media production and training. We produce video and web based media, train staff in media production, and provide guidance in utilizing media-making tools for issue-based organizing and/or cultural preservation. Community Collaborations

Media Action meets the unique needs of different cultures and regions through community-based collaborations. We partner with schools, community television stations, museums and more to facilitate workshops and media production/distribution.
