Funders & Partners

Media Action relies on the generous support of funders and key community partnerships.

Media Action partners with Atheneum Classics School to help support its mission of empowering communities through media production and education.  Atheneum School is a Not-for-Profit middle and high school with the mission to provide young people with the opportunity and means to initiate and develop their own education. In addition to serving youth in Anchorage, Atheneum faculty provide educational and artistic opportunities to at-risk and under-served youth in the Iditarod Area School District (IASD) in interior Alaska. Through funding from the Alaska Native Education and the Migrant Education grants, Atheneum faculty have engaged and empowered youth from several villages in artistic, cultural and educational activites, including the Summer Fine Arts Program in McGrath and the Yukon / Innoko River youth days in Anvik.

Media Action partnered with the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center to support the student filmmakers from Nikolai, Alaska, whose film screend in the 2010 Anchorage International Film Festival.  Two students from Nikolai presented their film at the festival and participated in workshops and activities revolving around the festival and the Anchorage Museum’s visiting filmmaker, Charles Burnett.
